Cameras in every classroom
Every classroom is equipped with at least one camera (audio and video) which allows anyone to come in the director's office and observe their children and the activities organized in that particular classroom (see Opened-door policy below).
This safety feature is especially useful to new parents following a difficult morning drop-off in their child's classroom. They can come in and see that shortly after the separation, their child will usually adjust quickly and become involved in the classroom activities. It allows for the parents to go about their daily routine, reassured and feeling confident in leaving their child at our learning center.
In addition, the use of the cameras is especially useful to management in the daily operation of our learning center. The camera will allow us to see and hear which classroom might need additional help if we feel that it is required. It also allows us to monitor the progress of new educators as well as our well-seasoned educators in the implementation of our philosophy.
Secured facility - Entrance/Exit
Safe and Sound Learning Center is a secured facility equipped with a special door-access-device (finger print reader) which allows, or restricts entry to our learning center. The primary guardian of the children elects to allow access to up to 3 authorized individuals of their choice. Anyone else cannot enter our learning center without being checked-in by a member of our management team first. That is why we ask for everyone's cooperation in not letting anybody enter our learning center. If someone tries to come in at the same time you do, please tell them to wait in the vestibule until a member of our management team can identify the individual and authorize their entry.
As for the exit of our learning center, the front doors are equipped with magnetic device that can not be operated without touching the metal handles. This system helps prevent the exit of a small children into our parking lot.
Finger printing of every employee and volunteer/Criminal background check
Anyone who has direct, or indirect contact with your child is finger printed. The lead teachers, the group leaders, the assistant teachers, the cooks, the van drivers and even volunteers are all required to get finger printed to guarantee the safety of your child. Following this requirement, we send a copy of the prints to the CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) and the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) in order to receive a criminal background check. Only those without a criminal record can be involved in your child's learning experience at Safe and Sound.
First-Aid/CPR/Medication Administration
All of our educators are required to have, or renew their first-aid/CPR certification before expiration. As for Medication Administration certification, we elected to limit the number of educators with the certification for control and safety reasons.
Cordless phone system
Safe and Sound is equipped with a cordless phone system (16 extensions). Not only does each classroom has a phone, but the teacher can carry it at all times.
Due to the nature of our business, parents need to be able to have access to their child's educator at all times. Often the children are outside on the playground, in Safe and Sound City, or in the danceroom and cordless phones allows a direct connection with the child's educator. Furthermore, in case of an emergency on the playground, your child's educator can always dial 911, or call the director depending on the type of emergency.
Finally, our van drivers carry a cellular phone during van runs in case of emergencies.
Opened-door policy
Considering that we do not have anything to hide, at Safe and Sound Learning Center we strongly believe that parents are entitled to stop by and visit or observe their children at ANY time during the day without having to set up and appointment. We also encourage their participation in the classroom activities as long as their presence is not disruptive to the group.
Computerized check-in/check-out process
Following your authorized entry to our learning center, you are required to check-in/check-out your child on the computer with your access code. By doing so, we can have a quick computerized view of our attendance as well as answer any question regarding who dropped-off, or picked-up, and the time it was done.
In addition, we require that you manually sign-in/sign-out your child on the sign-in/sign-out sheet. This additional operation will be of the up-most importance in the case of an emergency evacuation scenario such as a fire. Since the computer might be disabled by the fire, we will still be able to ensure that no child is left un-attended in the building.
